Before I share with you a poem written at age 19, I hope and pray that you please take the time to read all of this inspiration (part 2) of this very special Christmas day. The inspiration ‘It is worth it’ (part 1) was sent out this morning.
Today will go down in my history book as being the most special Christmas ever. The following is a short itinerary of today’s events:
Midnight – 3am: completing bagged lunches for the homeless and needy.
(A special thank you to the
(A special thank you to the cashier at the Aldi store on Bechtle Ave. for giving me $7.00 – when I fell short buying the supplies for lunches (because I didn’t have my debit card with me) she did this without her knowing the supplies were to be given to the homeless until she offered to pay the difference – this especially cheered me up – her tender heart warmed the hearts of many – especially me!)
Special Note: I will never forget today, and the many faces that were excited to receive the food and goodwill. Even those that refused the lunch, were cheered up by the gesture. Many were extremely thankful because they were extremely hungry. The prostitutes were thankful. The kids especially, made a huge imprint on my heart. I have decided to make this a yearly tradition. Thank you God for your hedge of protection, and for touching my heart in such a way that I will be forever blessed!!!
As I arrived home, after my three hour drive, I viewed my life completely different. I was EXTREMELY thankful to GOD for the many blessings bestowed upon my family, down to seeing Molly’s (my dog's) sweet face. I felt like I was in the movie ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’, and I shall never take for granted…
I viewed many broken and missing windows (in homes and vehicles). I viewed streets that I had never been before. I viewed old buildings that once was prosperous with jobs... But as I drove down these rugged streets, I felt as though I was driving down the streets of Heaven. I was never once treated harshly – on the contrary, I was welcomed with opened arms – I HAVE TRULY BEEN BLESSED BY IT
If you have a heart for the broken hearted, I encourage you to print the following. The following information took weeks in compiling. You do not need much $$ to make a difference, as I will show you. If you change just one life, it will be worth it.

Homeless Shelters in
Inter-Faith Ministries: 501 W. High Street (corner of Yellow Springs Street & W. High).
Director: Charlie Bush (937) 325-8154 – told me they do not enough money to have a homeless shelter, but that they have one anyway (across the street
Inter-Faith Ministries has become dear to my heart, because they do drug testing. If one fails the drug test, they can enter a
Homeless Shelter for Youths: (Runaways)
Teen Scene:
(Must speak to cashier (name = Coy)
He was polite enough to deliver my bagged lunches, bread, peanut butter, sleeping bags, and coats to the homeless that live at
Abused Children:
I have connected with a social worker that has access to abused children. This information, given to me, is extremely confidential. Any donations to bring a smile to their faces are well received. You may contact me: joyful@iamfreeindeed.org – to make the connection to give.
Wounded Student:
I have a personal friend = Tyler Werley. He is the Chaplin at Roosevelt & Simon Kenton Middle Schools. He is also involved in street missions. (937) 284-3262.
He and I are excellent resources, in giving advice, for the wounded student. We are not trained Social Workers, but that may be a good thing… Our plates are not full… I do not discourage you from seeking out a Social Worker for advice, but please find a Christian one. Thank you!
I can give you signs to look for in finding a sexually abused child, and forward you to the right resources (before my book comes out). joyful@iamfreeindeed.org – (937) 450-4332. (I am living proof).
Your local nursing home:
If you feel abused, neglected, lonely, depressed, hated, judged...then spend time at your local nursing home. It is FREE INDEED. If you donate your time, warm heart & smile, and a LISTENING ear, then the folks there will love you NO MATTER WHAT: you've done, you look like...they will surely appreciate YOU!
Homeless on the Street:
You know who the ‘regulars’ are, because you pass them often, and they stand in the same spot, day in and day out. Anything you give them, will be well received and with a smile! Again, I know because I am living proof.
The following Poem was written (at age 19) when I was going through a very difficult storm, this is the first poem to be shared with the world. I will not send many others, because my poems (from age 19) will be included in my book coming soon.
MORE THAN SOMEONE
Everything you’ve worked for and everything you’ve done,
may be thrown by the wayside and you’re not the only one.
Starved for destinations, a bigger man by trade,
a desperate man needs more than someone else to blame.
Friendless it appears for things he’s lost or never had,
he hides behind his tears, but you can often tell he’s sad.
The forgotten often wander, misplaced in this world,
obscure is all the eye can see for laying there curled.
As they pass on by and continue through the day,
can they appraise the quality of life some other way?
When you take a longer look at someone on the run,
you may see reflections of yourself becoming one.
Take an extra moment when you find yourself at peace,
to think about your values and your own affluencies.
Everything around you may seem worn or over used,
but imagine yourself removed from all you once owned
and often accused.
A very influential man once was in his prime
spends his day repeating lines like “could you spare a dime?”
The destitute find meaning in a different way of life,
in the doorways that they dwell in for shelters in the night.
No shining crystal possession sets out for his display,
his purpose is to find the food to get him through the day.
Fights to keep his sanity, his voice is never heard,
passes many people without a single word.
He staggers down the alley to drink his spirits by himself,
as he prays to God that one day he will wake up somewhere else.
