I guess you could say that I tried hard to self-destruct. I smoked, drank, partied till I puked many times... Knowing that I was disobeying God, I just figured that He would end my life early. I didn't seem to care, whatever God did to me, I knew that I deserved it.

When my little Lauren Grace (age 7) was born, I was thrown for a loop. Surely, God made a mistake, because I deserved to be punished for my evil living, not blessed with such a beautiful gift as this precious baby girl. As I touched Lauren for the first time in the hospital, I realized God loved me despite myself. I realized the words of the old familiar hymn 'When nothing else could help, Love lifted me'.

We thought we had lost Lauren. Jessica had a miscarriage the baby before Lauren. When she was pregnant with Lauren, Jessica was in the shower and began to lose tissue and blood. We rushed to the emergency room, and the doctor told us that Jessica miscarried yet again, and suggested that we let her dilate Jessica's cervix and let nature do its course. Jessica began to cry.

I explained to the doctor that we wished to have an ultra sound done anyway, that if the baby had died, we could have a DNC to extract the baby. During the ultra sound, no heart-beat could be found, and our fears turned into reality.

As a last attempt effort, the nurse searched one last time for a baby. I'm glad she did. The littlest speck on the screen began to pulsate. There was a heartbeat, Lauren was in the womb.

I'm so thankful to God that Lauren is here in our family today. She is such a joy, and has the biggest heart!!! God has a special plan for Lauren. I love her so much it hurts some times. God's love and grace is so amazing!!! Not only did God bless me with Lauren Grace, but also with little Jack Rain (age 3). God is real and does care about little children. He cares about us all - When nothing else could help, love lifted me!!!
