Many years ago I heard the best message at church.

In the message of the sermon, the story was told of an alcoholic named Joe. When Joe hit the bottom of his life, he needed to find shelter on the coldest of nights. Joe decided to stay at a nearby mission. After a warm meal, bed, along with warmth and loving kindness from the mission workers, Joe was encouraged to stay at the mission for the many cold nights ahead.

Soon, Joe fell in love with the mission and turned his heart towards Jesus. He spent the rest of his life working at the mission as a janitor, and was known as the greatest encourager.

The story continues with another alcoholic who turned his life around at the mission. When the man went forward to receive Jesus, the pastor of the mission asked the broken man if he wanted to receive Jesus as 'Lord of his life' and 'personal savior'. The man replied, "Is this Jesus like Joe?".
