Would you be willing to sell all of your belongings, move to a dangerous foreign land, and sacrifice (yes sacrifice) your own life, as well as your dear children, for the cause of Jesus Christ?
Not sure if you realize it or not, but there are missionaries, teachers, preachers being killed as we speak, all in the name of Jesus Christ.
As Americans, it would be hard for many of us to sacrifice our freedom, homes, jobs, cars, family… We are quite spoiled if you think about it.
Losing their lives for Jesus is what a hundred thousand+ Christians do each year, mostly in other countries. How could missionary upon missionary leave the comforts of America and take their sweet families to these danger zones?
God would definitely have had to change their hearts, in such a way, for them to be willing to give up their own lives to tell others about Jesus.
Thinking about the Bible, time and time again, the martyred Christians paid the ultimate price for the many freedoms we have today. One of those freedoms is having The Bible (to read).
If you start in Matthew, you will read about the birth of Jesus, up to His death on the cross. Jesus, of course, was the Ultimate Sacrifice. By Jesus dying on the cross, we may have the FREE gift of salvation. Jesus Himself told us that the greatest gift one could give is to die for another.
The disciples loved Jesus, but wasn’t all that convinced He would physically come back to life
(Mark 16:14). It wasn’t until they had seen him again (with their own eyes) that they were willing to ‘preach’ the good news (to the point of DEATH). Many of the disciples died for Jesus Christ. Peter was hung on a cross upside-down for telling others about Jesus.
Today, it would probably require most of us to see Jesus (with our own eyes) to be willing to die for Him.
Abraham hadn’t seen Jesus, but was willing to sacrifice his treasured son Isaac. I guess you could argue that he did hear God, which would be a good argument. Today however, don’t we continue to ‘see’ God? If you haven’t ‘seen’ God, just go outside - look up, down, and all around. We do ‘see’ God each and every day through His amazing creation, right?
So what does it take for someone to be a soul willing (to die) for Jesus Christ?
Undoubtedly, it would take FAITH.
Most of us Christians claim to have much FAITH, but do we have enough FAITH to trust God with our very lives?
The Bible tells us that in the ‘last days’ many ‘so-called-Christians’ will flee from their ‘faith’, probably out of fear for their lives. Satan is good at using fear to control us!
This past Sunday, my family had the privilege of sitting and speaking with Craig Grammer (our ‘Sr. Pastor’, he has requested not to have a title). When speaking about my heart for missions,
I offered my family to be sent anywhere the church had a mission, even if it meant leaving America. He told us that there was a family in front of us, but that when our time comes...
Craig was excited to tell us that the church gives a large portion of its collection to missions – PRAISE GOD!!!
Now, these words from me to Craig would have never come out of my mouth last year. Today, my heart has changed, and I want to be a true ambassador for my best friend Jesus Christ.
Folks, last year I was very much willing to die for my (17 year) drug addiction. Today I am very much willing to die for Jesus Christ!!! I don’t need to find a specific audience to relay this message. If you smoke your Marlboros, Camels, crack, cocaine, weed… you know what I just said in the first sentence of this paragraph. If you are proud of yourself for not smoking, then do you eat things like mayonaise, simple sugars...that could kill you by heart attack?
It is o.k. to die for Jesus, because this life is temporary. It is better to die for Christ than for anything else. I remember telling someone this: To be financially poor, after being selfish with your money, makes you a fool. However, if one is financially poor, for the cause of Christ, then this makes one wise. We are all going to die! You may as well be willing to die for Jesus.
I have discovered this: As with Abraham, God just wants to know that you’re willing. Anything you do (in the name of Jesus) God will have ‘your back’. God will provide a hedge-of-protection!
If you are over the age of 33, let me ask you a question. Aren't you riding on 'borrowed time'? Jesus lived to be 33 here on Earth. Aren't you blessed to have lived on Earth longer than Jesus? Did you deserve it? Don't think so.
Jesus wasn't thrilled to go through the whole 1st death experience either, but I am extremely thankful He did.

P.S. Is it another coincidence that I was given a free 'laptop' computer? If / when we are sent away, I'll still be able to pester you with these inspirations! Yippy!!!
Matthew 6:25 (Jesus said) “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?”
Matthew 16:24-27 (Jesus said) Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will find it. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done.”
Matthew 19:29-30 (Jesus said) And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields, for my sake, will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life. But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.
Please continue to pray for Orissa, India. There has been hundreds of Christian churches destroyed, 4 'dream centers' (orphanages) destroyed, and many lives lost this past week. Also, please pray for the safety of all of the orphans sent free without anyone to care for them. Yes, God cares for the orphans, but we know the consequences of removing Godly people from an evil region.
God Bless!
In His Hands,
Love, Glen
